ACO Certification Courses

Animal Control Officer Certification Courses

The American Animal Cruelty Investigations School offers three primary animal control officer certification courses, basic, advanced, and tactical. These three courses make up the 110-hour AACIS animal control officer certification. The animal control field training officer certification course is an excellent add-on course for officers who are responsible for training new animal control officers.

The Basic ACO Certification course is a 40-hour course that provides officers with fundamental concepts of animal control. This course includes block training in animal control officer knowledge, legal environment, animal knowledge, zoonotic diseases, field operations, and sheltering.

Advanced ACO Certification

The Advanced ACO Certification course is a 40-hour course that provides officers with advanced concepts of animal control from the animal cruelty investigations perspective. This course includes block training in investigations, veterinary forensics, legal environment, animal knowledge, zoonotic diseases, and advanced field operation.

Tactical ACO Certification

American Animal Cruelty Investigations School (AACIS) Tactical ACO Certification

The Tactical ACO Certification course is a 30-hour course that provides officers with certification training in chemical immobilization (16 hours), bite stick (4 hours), O.C. spray (4 hours), and infrared thermometry (6 hours).

Field Training Officer Certification
